About the Artist
Claire
de Lune is a visionary Artist based in the Summer County,
England. |
 |
I
was born in 1965 and grew up amidst the Experimentation,
Flower-Power and Psychedelia of the 60’s & 70’s… Influences
that continue to stamp their mark on my life and my
work. From childhood to this day, Art and the Realm
of the Imagination are my passions and I walk this
world with my head in the clouds, a vivid imagination
for company and an insatiable appetite for drawing
that which I see around me and within me. |

I studied at Harrow School of Art and graduated
with a BA (hons) in Graphic Design. Spending the remaining 80’s
boom years working in London design studios, I eventually became
disillusioned with the excesses of the Big City, and quit Design
to embark on a very different and unforeseen adventure.
After time out travelling some of our world, I returned to London
to work for several years supporting the people our society often
prefers to overlook… our homeless communities, chaotic
and addicted drug users, and men and women who sell sex. I also
studied physical and alternative therapies, Anatomy & Physiology,
Trance work techniques…and became a Sexual Health Specialist,
training professionals and working with young people to improve
their knowledge and confidence. This was a time during which
I learnt a great deal about the Light and the Dark of the human
condition. A time for exploring the limits of Mind, Body and
Spirit, and deepening my passions for Human Biology, Psychology,
and all things Corporeal. |
| I have now entered another
cycle, and returned full-time to the life of the Artist, and to
the language in which I feel most fluent. Working in splendid isolation,
perched on top of a beautiful and ancient hillside, I draw upon
my varied life experiences and weave them together with my love
of Sacred Geometry, Symmetry, Myth & Magik to create the combined
forces which fuel my work.
I am inspired by Humanity, The Mysteries, Gods and Goddesses,
Tantra, the Archetypal workings of the subconscious, Crop-Circle
formations, Kaleidoscopes, Plant Teachers, and the wonderful
world of the imagination. I consider myself Artist, Dreamer,
Visioner, Healer and Psychonaut. |

I work predominantly
within the round, creating Circular Art and Mandalas, which I
find the most magikal of forms. For me each piece of work is
a personal journey into Spirit, a powerful tool for reflection
and contemplation, and a meditation through which I seek my own
truths. Through my skill as creator each work appears to embody
symmetry and perfection. Yet, in truth, the image is as flawed
and imperfect as the human hand that wrought it. Its beauty and
power is infused with this magical duality and illusion.

| All of my black & white works are executed in
pen & ink. The colour pieces are layer upon layer of pencil
work, finished with gold, silver and enamel paints. My Visionary
Art & Erotic Art works are currently available as Original
Art Work, or Limited Edition Fine Art prints, signed by the Artist.
I am also available for Commissions. |

Each Summer Claire de Lune
goes ‘on tour’, and my work can be seen at various
UK festivals. At Glastonbury 2005 I put up the Unity Gallery,
which exhibited not only my own work, but also the considerable
creative talents of 14 other friends, artists and craftsmen.
